So now you've found the perfect personalized gift idea, you're now scratching your head about which one to buy? Don’t worry! Whether you're a firearms aficionado or complete novice this guide will help you through buying the perfect bullet for your needs.....
"But I can't be bothered to read this - just tell me what's good."
OK two options for you:
Gun nut : get a 357 Magnum in nickel on a keychain, use the Classic font and get it in presentation case.
Military vet: get a .308 in brass on a keychain, Classic font and in a presentation case. Job done!
Choose your caliber
What size bullet do you want? Our range is roughly organised by size and you will generally find that the bigger it is, the more text you can put on it. For example, you can have 14 characters per line on something small like the 9mm, 21 characters on one that’s middle of the range (like a .44 mag) up to 34 characters per line on a long cartridge like the 30-06.
You can have up to 4 lines of text on each, although bear in mind that text will be scaled accordingly – so putting the maximum characters on a small bullet will mean the text will be correspondingly smaller.
Customizing
STEP 1 - PRODUCT TYPE
Once you've decided on a particular caliber, the next choice you face is which product in that size you want to buy. The options available vary according to the calibre chosen - the total list of options is as follows:
- Bullet Only - as the name suggests, you will receive a virgin cartridge with only your specified engraving on it. 50BMG are only available like this.
- Key Ring - the bottom corner of the case will be drilled and a keychain attached.
- Stainless Ballchain Necklace - 27" long military grade stainless steel necklace. The coupling can be undone and a section of ballchain cut off if the length is too long. Most people will find the bullet hangs between the pectorals.
STEP 2 - FINISH
Now choose whether you want the brass or nickel finish.
A quick note on the difference between brass and nickel finish - for most calibers you can choose each product in either brass or nickel plated brass. Both are exactly the same price, and it's a matter of personal preference over which one you think looks best - you will find that the nickel plate is a bit more resistant to tarnishing though. If your bullet is going to be handled a lot then bear in mind that brass rounds will occasionally need to be cleaned with a brass cleaning solution to remain shiny....
STEP 3 - CUSTOMIZING
With regard to the layout of your text, we use the outward facing side of the cartridge as the centreline for positioning (so the opposite side to the drill hole if on a keyring or necklace). If there is more than 1 line of text it is distributed evenly near this origin point.
You have a choice of font types as shown below. From experience, some text types are less suited to specific situations although best endeavours will be made to ensure you will be happy with your purchase. For example, New School on a smaller circumference round like the 223 will need to have smaller than normal text to fit. Similarly, Modern is quite a wide font so best suited to shorter amounts of text rather than the maximum characters. If in doubt use classic – it always looks great.
You can even mix and match on different lines. PLEASE NOTE - the text in the preview box is an illustrative guide only - on the bullet you recieve the text will have been scaled appropriately to make it as easily readable and aesthetically pleasing as possible. STEP 4 - PRESENTATION, PACKAGING AND DELIVERY
You have the option of adding a presentation box to your bullet - this is a simple but stylish black card case with padded inlay and perfect if you are gifting to someone. Alternatively, bullets will be sent loose in a polyethene bag inside your envelope.
Delivery is flat rate - order as much as you like for the same delivery cost. We aim to turn round orders within a day or two and send first class. The package will be a jiffy bag sent to the address of your choice.
