"The most powerful handgun cartridge in the world..." said Dirty Harry, and whatever you might think about the validity of that statement back then in 1971, it's certainly been eclipsed now. That's not to say that this isn't one hell of a powerful cartridge though, even if tales of shooting through engine blocks might be a bit far-fetched.....
Coming on to the market in about 1956 it was a big hit, but you can't underestimate the "Clint" boost factor in its popularity, along with the Smith & Wesson Type 29 revolver he was packing - prices for the guns tripled due to demand! These days, there's a firm and loyal following for the big .44 - they look pretty sweet too.
